” Ocean Awareness ” We specialize first time beginners. The first priority of Surfriders Academy surf school is to insure a safe environment. On the foundation ( Awareness in water safety ) we promote the skills necessary to learn and progress in the sport of surfing. Your instructor will have a minimum of 20 years experience in many types of surf from Hawaii to California. All lessons include an on land briefing and skills practice session before entering the water. Surf lessons are by appointment only! call for a set time and date.

BEACH SAFETY TIPS 1.Swim near a Lifeguard. 2.Learn to swim. 3.Never swim alone. 4.Don’t fight the current. 5.Don’t float where you can’t swim. 6.Don’t dive head first. ” Protect your neck.” 7.Leash your board. 8.Swim sober. 9.At home, you’re the lifeguard. 10.Always wear sunscreen. 11.Be careful around the fire pits. 12.Pick up your trash.
HOW TO SURVIVE A RIP TIDE / CURRENT A rip current is a channel of water that flows away from the shore.When caught in a rip current, swim parallel to the shore until you are out of the current.Then swim at an angle away from the current toward the shore.
